Calipso Quid Pro Quo Validation WebsiteWelcome to the Cloud Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO) Quid Pro Quo (QPQ) validation website. This website will function as an information center and the interface to the data catalog database. The data catalog will allow a viewer to select a CALIPSO validation product or instrument and obtain a list of validation sites with the appropriate data. Hampton University will collect data at an on-site server unless a central location can be arranged at a network of sites. The data catalog will provide the viewer with a single point of reference to all pertinent validation data. Links to instrumented networks involved in the CALIPSO QPQ validation program are listed and, if appropriate, instructions are included for accessing data repositories from these networks. Access to a provider's data is restricted to that provider and the CALIPSO science and validation teams as is described in the data exchange policy. The QPQ validation plan is also available. Information on the HDF and NetCDF file format, which are the preferred file formats for submitting data, is also provided. Information on these file formats will be a combination of files and links. Information for submitting data and receiving CALIPSO data is also available. Individuals or groups are invited to participate in intercomparison activities between CALIPSO and other ground-based, airborne, and satellite instruments. We are seeking investigators who may be collecting data within the troposphere and lower stratosphere as part of their on-going research programs and would be interested in collaboration with the CALIPSO program.
